Ellen DeGeneres to launch women’s clothes collection with Walmart

Ellen DeGeneres will be launching a new women’s clothes collection with US retailer Walmart inspired by her personal style.

The line, called EV1, will feature around 60 different items including t-shirts, accessories, footwear and denim clothing.

All items included in the collection will cost $30 (£23) or less in an effort to make the range as accessible as possible.

Furthermore, Walmart has assured that the clothing will also come in a diverse array of sizes.

“The core of the EV1 collection is denim – an iconic American staple,” says Denise Incandela, head of fashion for Walmart eCommerce US.

“Designed to be effortlessly stylish, EV1 was inspired by Ellen’s own confidence and optimism (think tees with inspirational sayings, elevated denim and, of course, fantastic sneakers).

“It’s cool, fun and accessible.”

Ellen has also explained the way in which the collection takes after her famous mantra, as she tells her audience everyday to “be kind to one another.”

“Adorableness. Is that a word? The biggest inspiration was actually inclusiveness. That’s definitely a word,” she says.

“EV1 promotes kindness and love and diversity. We wanted it to appeal and be available to as many people as possible.”

The collection will be ready to purchase from walmart.com from September 10, with certain items available in-store. Walmart doesn’t currently deliver to the UK.

This isn’t the first time the retailer has collaborated with the comedian, as Ellen frequently provides deserving individuals with gifts from Walmart.

In March this year, Ellen invited a woman called Jillian Thompson, a single mother who works hard to provide for her four-year-old daughter, to carry out a challenge in one of the stores.

However, the challenge was a ruse to give Jillian a $10,000 (£7,871) gift card to spend at Walmart.
