Liverpool have the opportunity to leapfrog Manchester City and go top of the table for a few hours at least when they meet seventh-placed Bournemouth.

The Reds are yet to taste league defeat this season and will be confident of a win which could would them to the summit of the Premier League before Pep Guardiola’s side face a difficult task at Chelsea.

Bournemouth however ended a run of four straight defeats in a 2-1 win over Huddersfield in midweek, with in-form Callum Wilson notching his eighth of the season.

Player to watch

Virgil van Dijk: Despite Jurgen Klopp’s side’s diverse attacking threats, it has been the imperious Dutchman who has vastly improved Liverpool’s defence. He brilliantly created a second for Roberto Firmino against Burnley and could have scored himself, but it is at the other end where the former Southampton man will have to be at his best, with Callum Wilson in excellent form.
