Just like in Brazil, the first day of April is the day of the lie, or to the letter, the day of the fools in English. This day is not exactly a national holiday in the United States, but many people “celebrate” it one way or another.
On this day, it is common for Americans to play tricks on co-workers, at school, on teachers, and especially with family and friends. April Fool’s day is one where silly activities, jokes and pranks are celebrated. For that reason many Americans will be prepared not to fall for these games and many others have already planned their games.
And make no mistake, Americans like pranks as much as Brazilians. They so enjoy this genre of thing that there are TV shows completely dedicated to preaching pieces on people who have no idea it’s a joke.
But what to expect from April Fool’s Day if you live in the United States? It is probable that those Brazilians residing in the United States receive virtual cards with pranks or jokes, have their workstations untidy, are called to participate in silly games during the service or to pick up a colleague and receive trotting. This is all part of the “celebrations” of the day, so enjoy and participate in the “dance” as well. But remember that you can not just get bored playing.
